Updating bios on eee pc dating men with vasectomies

I would like to install Lubuntu 12.10 on an Asus Eee PC Seashell 1015BX, but have noticed that there are a number of BIOS updates on the Asus support page.Does anyone have any experience updating an Asus PC BIOS before installing Ubuntu (Lubuntu)?

Is there a feature that one of the BIOS updates offers that you expect to rely on? If you still feel that you should update your BIOS, generally there are a few ways of going about it.

Sometimes there's a windows installer and you just run an executable that does the trick.

I went to Asus's download page and all they offer is a zipped file. I don't know the features available on your BIOS and your EEE PC probably doesn't have a disc drive, so I recommend using the Ultimate Boot CD (if you want to save the disc, you could even boot UBCD off a pen drive).

Here's a forum thread that should help you on the UBCD site.

Last time I flashed a BIOS was on a Pentium 4 with a CD, looks like in your case you're going to have to deal with the command prompt in free DOS running off the UBCD (plus if you run it off a USB key, you may be able to store the BIOS rom on the same pen drive to flash the BIOS).

Recently an issue occurred on a very trusty Asus Eee PC 1001P Netbook in which a Bios upgrade was needed.

Newer systems are usually not an issue to update as it is a download , double-click on the executable and away you go.

This one was a bit different as the download file was a ROM binary and there was no double-click.

The early ASUS Eeepc 900 Series machines run noticeably better with the latest BIOS update.  Better battery performance, lower heat on the unit, better overall system stability.  Changing the BIOS can be tricky on these machines if you have installed Windows Vista, Windows 7 or even XP Pro as you need to install the ACPI driver before you can use the automated BIOS updated.

I had lots of trouble locating the ACPI driver that worked on this model so I decided to post it on the web.

ACPI Driver for EEEPC 900 (Zip File) To use this driver for Windows Vista and Windows 7 you will need to change the setup program to compatibility mode of Windows XP SP3 or SP2.
